City of Alameda Awarded $100,000 for Estuary Crossing Feasibility Study

City of Alameda won a grant for $100,000 to spend on a feasibility study for an alternative estuary crossing for bicyclists and pedestrians.

This was no small feat. We want you to know that this would not have happened at all, if BikeAlameda did not initiate the process. BikeAlameda committee members met with city staff, city council, helped fill out the applications and monitored the grant awards committee.

Please take this winning moment to consider your membership status with BikeAlameda. If you aren't already a member, please join. If you are up for renewal, please renew now. Additional donations take us further, too. With your support and membership, we can continue to build our coalition and ensure that the feasibility study recommendations meet the needs of bicyclists and pedestrians.

Its easy to join online or print out this form and send it in.

This grant will be matched by another $100,000 from either the state Bicycle Transportation Account or from Alameda transportation funds. Together the $200,000 will study a bike/ped bridge, changes to the Posey tube, estuary water shuttle and other possibilities to create better choices to get you between west Alameda and Oakland.
