BikeAlameda members were able to test the estuary crossing shuttle this morning. There is room for 12 bikes and plenty of people. We are very happy to announce that most bikes will definitely work. We tested a recumbent, extracycle, tandem, kids bikes, trail-a-bike (detached) along with the typical bike. The only bike that is more difficult is the adult tricycle. The length seems to make it too long for the wheelchair ramp. So anyone wanting to bring one aboard would have to lift it three steps. It also looks like the 860 Atlantic stop (Stop #1) will be the most accessible for bikes. The stop is between Challenger and Constitution, with bike lanes and easy entrance and exit from the parking lot. When going to Oakland, one could easily pickup the shuttle at Stop #2 (COA), but on the return it is more convenient to exit the shuttle at stop #1 (860).
Both Alameda stops have bike racks, also.
I hope that you will be able to try the shuttle out soon.
