CASA TOWN HALL “CELEBRATE, CHALENGE, CHAMPION” on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH 6:30 – 8:30PM at INDEPENDENCE PLAZA COMMUNITY ROOM 703 ATLANTIC AVENUE (between Webster St. & Constitution Way
In 2008 the City of Alameda adopted a Local Plan for Climate Protection, the goal of which is to:
TO REDUCE ALAMEDA’S CARBON EMISSIONS TO 25% BELOW 2005 LEVELS BY THE YEAR 2020
In September 2008 CASA (Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda) was formed to help achieve that goal and to fulfill one of the top 7 goals of the Local Plan for Climate Protection which was to:
“DEVELOP A MULTI-FACETED COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS AND PARTICIPATION IN GREENHOUSE GAS REDUCTIONS”
One year later Alameda has taken a number of significant steps to put us on a path to fulfill the goals of the Local Action Plan. The partners that make up CASA also have ambitious plans for the future.
In order to raise awareness in the community of what has been done as well as what is planned, and to encourage participation by all Alamedans in these plans, CASA is hosting a Town Hall meeting on November 5th from 6:30-8:30pm at the Independence Plaza Community Room located at 703 Atlantic Ave.
At the Town Hall we will:
We will have on hand many of the partners who are working to reduce Alameda’s carbon emissions, including the City Government, Alameda Municipal Power, BikeAlameda, Alameda Schools Go Green, representatives of CASA’s 5 Task Forces, as well as others.
CASA invites every Alamedan to join us for this important meeting. Come and find out what is happening in Alameda and decide what you can do personally, either at home or by participating in one of the initiatives, to make a difference.
Please join us!
