Come join us at our second Alameda Museum and BikeAlameda joint venture, designed to introduce our patrons to both the history of our lovely island and the joys of cycling here.
See slides of historic windows presented by glass artist Ken Matthias, then join a bike expedition to the places where the windows are located. Participants will receive a color brochure with historical and architectural information and thumbnails of some of the sights along the way
The day will start at 11AM at the Museum with a slide show by Alameda decorative glass artist Ken Matthias of historical stained glass windows. Then you will receive your map and directions. We will then break into two groups and take an easy one hour bike ride with plenty of stops to view some of the windows we have seen as well as other architectural features on some amazing historical homes. At around noon, we will picnic on the grounds of the Meyer's House, Alameda's own house museum, before enjoying a tour of the house. The second leg of our tour will continue to more houses.
To ensure your comfort and safety, please bring the following:
- Your own bicycle. (Check tire pressure and brakes beforehand.)
- A bicycle helmet. (Required)
- A picnic lunch.
- Water.
- Sunscreen.
- Comfortable shoes for riding.
- Appropriate clothing. (It could be either hot or cold on tour day.)
