This page is for anybody who is interested in volunteering for the BikeAlameda Valet Bike Parking service provided at Alameda events. Click here to learn more about volunteering.
Volunteers for BikeAlameda's Valet Bike Parking Service work on a team to park bikes at local Alameda events. The valet bike parker will staff a table and bike corral, secure bikes, distribute literature, and monitor the bikes.
The team of bike parkers can be two or three people - a greeter, parker and tabler. Parkers work in two to four hour shifts. Assist in setting up the bike corral and equipment. Assist in taking down the equipment. Greet bicyclists and describe the valet procedure. Park and lock bicycles. Describe and handout literature on the table to clients. Check in and out the bicycles. Monitor the bicycles.
Skills Needed:Volunteers are paired with a veteran parker and trained on their first volunteer opportunity. An instruction sheet is provided beforehand and is available at the Valet Bike Parking station. Signup for an event one week in advance is preferable.
Time Commitment:The Home Base for the Bicycling Community of Alameda, California. BikeAlameda's goal is to provide a community that Alameda bicyclists can belong to. Serving the community through services such as Valet bike parking, we hope to encourage bicycle use as a form of transportation and an integral part of daily life.
