||Changing Gears is a non-profit community bike shop located on the former naval air station in Alameda, California. It's fiscally sponsored by Earth Island Institute in Berkeley.
Changing Gears offers used bicycle sales, full-service repairs, paid job training for formerly homeless adults, earn-a-bike opportunities for youth and adults, a community repair shop, and volunteer opportunities for all.
The mission is to empower local communities by offering recycled bicycle services that are safe, vibrant, creative, and self-sustaining.
